Duo YUMENO is honored to be part of the residency program at Lou Harrison House in Joshua Tree, CA. The diverse program will feature two works by Lou Harrison – Suite for Sangen for solo shamisen and Rhymes with Silver for solo cello – as well as the duo’s commissioned works. The concert will be followed by an informal Q&A session with the performers.
Kimura will perform koto at the Emperor’s Birthday Celebration at The residence of the Japanese Ambassador to the United States in Washington DC. (Invitation only)

Kimura will perform shamisen including voice at the annual Japanese music concert presented by IMJS: Japanese Cultural Heritage Initiatives Columbia University. The program will be presented with the theme, Women Who Made/Make Music. More detailed information to follow.

The second of the KSA 10th Anniversary Septet Concerts celebrating a decade of new music. Two iconic ensembles from the courts of Europe and Japan meet in the ultimate blend of Japanese and Western music. Featuring World Premier septets by Yoko Sato and James Matheson. Kimura will perform with the Arianna String Quartet.

Kimura will appear at KAMMERRAKU concert celebrating the Arianna String Quartet’s 20th season and Kyo-Shin-An Arts’ 10th anniversary. Together they are launching a new decade of music blending Japanese and Western traditions.

The New York-based Duo YUMENO featuring koto / shamisen musician Yoko Reikano Kimura and cellist Hikaru Tamaki will present its singular fusion of sound which has been praised as “exquisite” and “compelling.” The concert will feature the duo’s latest commission pieces, as well as traditional Japanese music presented in Japan House’s serene and elegant tea room.
Duo YUMENO is inspired by tradition, but with a contemporary sensibility. Duo YUMENO’s repertoire includes a dynamic range of compositions, both traditional and contemporary, all of which explore the dialogue between classical Japanese and western music.
